How a Business Coach Went from Idea Overload to Calm, Confident Action

Background

When you’re a one-woman show running a coaching business and trying to build something that matters, it’s easy to end up doing All The Things… and finishing none of them.

That was exactly the vibe when this brilliant business transformation coach came to me.

Lucy helps newly qualified coaches turn their training into actual businesses—by teaching them marketing, mindset, and self-confidence. But when it came to her own business? She was stuck in the classic too-many-tabs-open brain loop.

“I have so many ideas and projects, and I need help to focus and implement. With Erin's help I am actually finishing (most) things.”

Problems

She was either buried in tasks that made more sense to outsource, or bouncing from one exciting idea to the next without tying anything off. The result?

Slow growth, rising stress, and regular fibromyalgia flare-ups pushing her closer to burnout.

Putting in more and more time ... and then being hard on myself for lack of progress…

We met in real life first, which meant she got to see how I worked and immediately she could see straight away that I wasn’t just organised. I was also someone she could bounce ideas around with, laugh with, and be honest with.

“We met in person, so I got to know you and could see first-hand how organised you are. I love your sense of fun, but also that you keep me accountable.”

That combination of our similar brains (neurospicy solidarity!) and mutual honesty was the great foundation. No guilt. No judgement. Just a shared mission to get her growing again—without her losing her mind (or health) in the process.

What I Did

From there, I stepped in to:

  • Take the tasks off her plate that didn’t need her brainpower

  • Get her social media consistent and running smoothly

  • Keep projects moving (and finished!) instead of stalling

  • Support her in building her group programme

  • Bring accountability so ideas don’t get lost in the shuffle

Lucy summed it up better than I can:

“Your patience with my ADHD moments and impulses, your generosity of spirit and kindness, your fast turn around on projects and how much you genuinely care about my success ... I could go on and on!”

The Outcome

The business is growing and the group programme is complete. Lucy’s stress levels are down, and she’s not running herself ragged trying to do it all alone anymore.

“Before Erin joined my team, things were fairly chaotic, but now I have new working patterns in place and I really value that my days are calmer and more organised as a result.”

She added:

“I love working with Erin - she is a creative, caring, and safe pair of hands to help me operate my business. She is endlessly patient and kind, and genuinely cares about the success of my business!”

Business growth is happening, and she’s no longer sacrificing her health or peace of mind to make it work.

Lets Wrap-Up

For Lucy, outsourcing wasn’t about letting go of control — it was about creating calm, focus, and progress. She’s still the brains behind her business, but now she’s got me keeping things moving so she can do more of the work she loves.

Top Tip

If your to-do list is longer than your attention span, pick just one unfinished idea that’s been floating around for ages—and set a timer for 30 minutes to make progress on it.

Don’t aim to finish it. Just move it forward a tiny bit.

Break the cycle of overwhelm and actually complete the big stuff by focusing on one thing at a time.

Consistency beats chaos, every time.
