5 ways to market your creative business effectively

Marketing is crucial to the success of any creative business. The right marketing strategy can help you reach your target audience and increase sales.

When I started my VA business, I didn't realise the importance and time/effort it takes to market your business, and I will be honest, I wasted time directing my marketing in the wrong places.

So here are the five ways I found to be the most effective ways to market my business:

Utilise Social Media

Social media platforms are an excellent way to reach many people. You can create a business account on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and share your work, promotions, and updates. You can use organic growth or paid adverts; either way, it can work well, depending on your goal.


Networking is a great way to connect and build relationships with potential clients and collaborators. Attending events, joining local creative communities, and engaging with others in your industry can open many opportunities and has been an important part of the growth of my business.

Collaborate with Other Businesses

Collaborating with other businesses can help you reach a new audience and increase your exposure. For example, using tags when promoting your collaboration on Social Media allows their audience to see you.

You can work with a complementary business to offer a joint product or service or promote each other’s businesses to your respective audiences. I have collaborated with different businesses by giving talks, sharing their work and hosting a weekly networking room on Linkedin. (at the time of writing this, 27/2/23)

Content Marketing

Content marketing is the creation and sharing of valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience.

You can create social media posts, blog posts, videos, podcasts, and infographics to showcase your work and expertise. See your content as a portfolio by making great content (like this blog) then people can see your knowledge.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a personal way to reach your target audience and keep them engaged. You can send newsletters, promotions, and updates to your subscribers and track the success of your campaigns.

Most importantly, don't limit yourself and don’t be afraid to try new marketing strategies. See what works best for your business.

Remember, effective marketing is all about understanding your audience and delivering value to them.
